Our Teachers – Megan Brooks
Megan Brooks
Voice, Piano, Ukulele and Early Music
Megan Brooks is a voice, piano, ukulele, and early childhood music teacher. At six years old, she sang her first solo in church choir and hasn’t stopped performing, studying, and cherishing music since! In high school, she performed in several school and community theatre productions: The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Anything Goes, Seussical, and Little Women (to name a few!) Although a naturally shy kid, music was where Megan felt most courageous and free to be herself. She hopes to cultivate a similar creative confidence in all her students as they learn and discover their own musical styles!
Megan holds a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music from Loyola University of Maryland and earned the Vocal Performance Award at graduation. In addition to her music studies, Megan completed coursework in education and volunteered in several Baltimore City music classrooms.
It is NEVER “one size fits all,” when it comes to private lessons with Ms. Megan! She enjoys exploring a wide range of repertoire with her students from classical, folk, and opera to musical theatre, rock, and pop. Lessons are student-led and tailored to meet individual learning styles and musical interests. For instance, some piano beginners love learning through lesson books, others learn best playing by ear, and many enjoy a combination of instructional methods. When engaging her youngest students, she incorporates Montessori-style manipulatives, rhythm games, color, and more into all her lessons!
When she is not teaching music, Megan enjoys swimming, spending quality time with her friends & family, being outdoors, and drinking iced vanilla lattes.
Megan is excited to join the talented team of music teachers and students at Naptown Sings and Plays!
