Our Teachers – Kara Sheehan
Kara Sheehan
Piano
Kara Sheehan is a longtime Maryland resident who comes to Naptown Sings and Plays! as a piano teacher. She has a long history of musical experiences. Starting in elementary school, she learned to play the clarinet, eventually joining Annapolis’ Chesapeake Youth Symphony Orchestra in high school and then choosing to study music in college. Attending Frostburg State University, Kara graduated with a double music degree in Music Management and Music Performance on the Clarinet. During her time, she completed an internship with the college’s cultural arts program, learning all aspects of event planning; from small concerts all the way to arena shows, including The Roots and The Goo Goo Dolls.
After college, Kara worked as a music teacher and athletic director at a private high school for students with learning difficulties and athletic director. Eventually, she moved to south of Annapolis and worked as in Anne Arundel County Public Schools, and as a private piano teacher. When not in the music studio Kara works as full time Mom to her young children, and within the Annapolis hospitality industry. For fun, Kara can be found gardening and planting flowers anywhere the space can be found, inside or out of the home. Her motto is that there can never be too many plants! Kara is the perfect combination of a nurturing and technical teacher. We are so excited to have her on the Naptown Sings and Plays! team. Request lessons with Kara, HERE!
