Our Teachers – Gregory Voinier
Gregory Voinier
Voice, Piano, and Guitar Instructor
Hailed for his “rich, yet agile sound” and “superb comedic timing”, baritone Gregory Voinier is an active artist in opera, oratorio, and concert repertoire and is based in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Oh yes, Greg is an accomplished opera singer with a Master’s degree in Opera from the renowned Maryland Opera Studio. Greg also has a degree in Music Education. He taught for three years as an elementary music teacher in several public schools. He has been camp counseling, tutoring, and private lesson teaching since 2004! Not only does Greg understand how to sing, play piano, and play guitar, but he truly knows how to teach.
Gregory’s stage roles have included included Montano (Otello) and Sam/Silvano (Un Ballo in Maschera) at Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) Figaro (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) with OperaNOVA, Bob (The Old Maid and the Thief), Guglielmo (Cosí Fan Tutte) and Martino (L’occasione fa il ladro).
Gregory brings his artistry to the concert stage and recently was a guest soloist for Carmina Burana with Peak Performances in New Jersey. He was featured in the New Jersey premiere of Samuel Barber’s The Lovers with Harmonium Choral Society and also performed frequently as a bass soloist for the Bach Cantata series for the University of Maryland.
Voinier holds a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Montclair State University. He currently studies with Carmen Balthrop, one of the best teachers on the planet, and another Naptown Sings and plays add-on!
As an educator, Greg finds the untapped potential with his students. He helps his students to critique themselves so they are able to work independently outside of the studio. The main goal of his teaching is for students to know what method works best for them so they can discover not only the artist but the person within themselves.
