Our Teachers – Chris Aiken

Chris Aiken

Drum Instructor

The Naptown Sings and Plays! team is excited to welcome Chris Aiken as our first drum teacher at the studio. Chris has a strong passion for the rhythm, and an even stronger love of teaching drumming to his students. Chris started playing drums the age of 8, and has not stopped for 25 years now. He specializes quite a few genres, too: rock, jazz, blues, wind ensemble, hip hop, and metal. In his youth, Chris took lessons from Walter Salb who was well known for big band jazz and his great teaching ability. Walter’s students went on to play with Clutch, OAR, Natalie Merchant and Ani DiFranco, to name a few.

In high school, Chris played in the Symphonic Orchestra and quickly moved up Honors Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. After high school Chris went on to tour and play with quite a few bands, both locally and nationally. His most recent gig was with local legends, Bond and Bentley. Chris has a passion for teaching drums, as he loves to spread his knowledge and enjoyment to others. He teaches students to develop snare and kit skills in a fun and friendly atmosphere. See his infectious rhythm for yourselves, by scheduling a lesson today!
